Preparation Before and After CO2 Laser Treatment (Carbon Dioxide Laser)

Preparation Guidelines Before Receiving CO2 Laser Treatment

Avoid using cosmetics containing glycolic acid or retinoic acid for two weeks before the treatment, and refrain from using them for another two weeks after the treatment.

If you are using acne medication or taking other treatments,
inform your doctor or assistant before receiving the service.

Post-CO2 Laser Care Instructions

Avoid getting the treated area wet for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Do not pick at the scabs. The scabs will usually fall off on their own within 7-14 days.

Avoid direct sunlight for the first two weeks. If necessary, apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 or higher.

Refrain from using cosmetics or skincare products containing alcohol on the treated area, as they may cause irritation.

Common Concerns After CO2 Laser Treatment

Typically, a topical anesthetic is applied before the laser treatment to alleviate discomfort in the treatment area, so you may feel only mild pain during the procedure.

Avoid applying makeup and scrubbing the scabbed area for 7 days or until the scabs have fallen off.

The number of treatment sessions required for various skin issues with CO2 Laser depends on the condition being treated. Some issues may resolve in one session, while others may require multiple sessions. For small or shallow lesions treated with fractional CO2 laser, 1-2 sessions may suffice. However, larger or deeper lesions, as well as collagen stimulation, may require repeated treatments every 4-6 weeks.
