How to Take Care of Yourself Before and After Botox Injections?
Preparation Guidelines Before Receiving Botox Injections
• Avoid taking vitamins that can thin the blood, such as Vitamin C, fish oil, ginkgo, and ginseng, for at least one week before the injection.
Post-Botox Care Instructions
To prolong the effects of Botox, the following guidelines are recommended:
• Try to move the muscles in the treated area for 1-2 hours after the injection to help the Botox distribute more effectively.
• Avoid lying down for 4 hours after the injection.
• Avoid pressing or performing any actions on the treated area for 6-8 hours. You can use cosmetics gently after treatment but avoid pressing or rubbing the injection site.
• Avoid heat exposure and activities that cause facial flushing, including avoiding deep skin laser treatments, for at least 2 weeks after the injection.
Foods to Avoid After Botox Injections
• Avoid all types of alcoholic beverages and refrain from smoking.
• Avoid grilled foods that require being near high heat.
• Avoid spicy foods that may cause facial flushing, and fermented foods.
• Avoid undercooked or raw foods.
It is recommended to avoid these within the first 2 weeks after receiving the treatment.
Common Concerns After Botox Injections
• You can exercise as usual after the injection, except for intense workouts. It is recommended to wait at least 48 hours, or ideally 2 weeks, before engaging in heavy exercise.
• You can wash your face and apply makeup as usual after the treatment.
• If you need to lie down within 4 hours after the Botox injection, it is recommended to keep your head elevated above your chest.
• You can drink coffee as usual; it does not affect the Botox.
